ServiceMaster by Mistick Welcomes The Western Pennsylvania Apartment Association (WPAA) for Collecting and Packing Food for the Various Salvation Army Locations
11/23/2009
The Western Pennsylvania Apartment Association (WPAA) will once again collect and pack food for the various Salvation Army locations on Monday morning November 23, 2009, beginning at 9:00 am in the warehouse of ServiceMaster by Mistick located at 9189 Marshall Road, Cranberry Township, PA. 16066.
For the past five years, the Western Pennsylvania Apartment Association has worked with their member apartment communities throughout Western Pennsylvania to collect food from their tenants and vendors for distribution to seven Salvation Army locations throughout the area.
This year twenty-two (22) apartment complexes will place food collection boxes in their lobbies and encourage their tenants, vendors and employees to donate food, money and other non-perishable items for the local community.
The food collection kicked off in September at the WPAA’s golf outing where participants brought non-perishable food items and money for the drive.
Organizers Marcia Cashdollar from Waterford Nevillewood Apartments, Faith Dickinson of ServiceMaster by Mistick and Janice Jones of Belfor are heading up this year’s drive. Marcia Cashdollar, former President of the association states, “We value the people and communities our apartments serve and know that many of our neighbors may have to go without a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. It is our extreme pleasure to have our property managers work with this organization to help the community.”
Craig Davis, President of the WPAA and Regional Director of Northstreet Properties increased the donation this year to pack 130 boxes filled with food and a $15.00 gift card to go towards the purchase of a turkey or other items in their local Giant Eagle. “The holidays would not be complete for the WPAA if we did not have this food drive. It is a lot of hard work for the entire process to come together, but everyone does it with smiles on their faces because they know how much of a need is out there. We love it!”
The food that is collected from the apartment communities is picked up by the association’s vendors who then separate the hundreds of food items, fill the boxes, label them for distribution and then take them to the Salvation Army locations.
